AMMA (Associated Mechanical Mechatronic Companies) was born in 1919 on the initiative of the senator Giovanni Agnelli, who also became the Association’s first president.
AMMA has a membership of more than 600 companies, with about 50.000 employees. They can be splitted into the following industrial fields: Automotive, Machinery & Production Systems, Automotive Components, Electrics & Electronics, Mechanical/Metallurgy and Aerospace. AMMA is a non-profit association and pulls togheter with Unione Industriale (Employers’ Association) of Turin, inspired by the values and aims of Confindustria (Italian Manufacturers’ Association). AMMA is also part of Federmeccanica.
On the centenary of its foundation, AMMA has published an interesting volume, which travels through the evolution of mechanical industry in the northwestern part of Italy from 1919 to the present day. The volume – thanks to its texts and images – let us go back into the past in order to better understand the evolution in this field in the last century.
Many images are dedicated to the companies, which made the history of the Piedmontese mechanical industry. Among them, we can find also Armo spa with a photo taken in 1975, which shows a production line in which Armo’s tilting machines were used. Actually, already in 1975 Armo gave great attention to the safety and ergonomics of manual labour: this photo proves it.
